CNN and AL Jazeera, Obama

While looking for an article, on CNN and AL Jazeera, finding an article that interested me took a while. I found myself overlooking and settled on the president, Barack Obama's Budget plan for 2013. This is a relative current issue regarding our nation with the problems with our economy over the years. Obama`s budget plan is an important factor that needs to be answered for Obama to be reelected for the presidential election that is coming up.  Al Jazeera and CNN look to summarize Obama's recent views on the new budget plan.
On CNN news I watched two or three videos of the anchors and politicians talking about their viewpoints on Obama's new budget plan. While they did give accurate information about what Obama wants, they did not care for his views. They believed most of what he said is impossible to do and that our economy is going to be the same as his last proposal. It seems as if from what we learned in class that CNN is a little biased Obama because it seems that there siding with republicans, by having people come on and talk about his budget plan how it is a disappointment to our nation.
For the Al Jazeera story I felt like their video was fair with their information. Although I’m not exactly the best judge of this it seems as if they were fair. I feel as though Al Jazeera gave both sides of the story. They gave information about Obama, and what his budget plan is and what it entitles. They then showed republicans not liking the plan. Al Jazeera just seems as if they want to delight both parties by not being bias to either side.
When comparing the two it seems as if CNN tends to side more with the Republican Party, while Al Jazeera seems to side with both. The Articles did however state the facts of what Obama was trying to do with his plan to cut 4 trillion dollars but both stated that what the difference from his last proposal was. They differ in which CNN completely bashes the budget while AL Jazeera seems to just say, let’s see how it goes. It seems as if Al Jazeera sides with both sides because there reporting across sea and CNN maybe just doesn’t like Obama.

  1. Dear Doug --
You have some interesting observations here -- and I like the extra graphics! This essay needs to present less of your process and more of the evidence you're using to support a thesis. Try writing in the third person -- get away from talking about yourself. This essay challenged everyone to think about what they mean by "bias" and consider points of view, globalism, and the needs of an audience.
